Grabovac Group
Grabovac Group (the Community Health Lab) is a multidisciplinary research group at the Centre for Public Health of the Medical University of Vienna, led by Dr Igor Grabovac. We built a website that presents the group, ten research projects, the whole team and a growing list of publications in one place.

The research group needed one place that explains who they are and what they do: EU and national projects (CANCERLESS, CO-CAPTAIN, Less is More...), a team with affiliated researchers and alumni, and a publications list that keeps growing. The content has to be understandable to both the public and an academic audience, and the group has to maintain it on their own, because projects, people and papers change constantly.
A research group does not introduce itself with text about itself, it does so with what it has done. So projects, people and papers carry the site, and the description of the group sits above them as a short frame. We separated current and past projects deliberately: a peer looks for what is ongoing, while a journalist or a student usually looks for what is finished. WordPress was chosen for the rhythm of academic work, because the publications list changes more often than anything else on the site.
- A page for every research project, current and past separated
- Individual bios for the core team, affiliated researchers and alumni
- Sections for peer-reviewed articles, books and news
- The site in English
- A CMS the group updates itself
- Live at igorgrabovac.com since 2022
How it works.
03 stepsSees what the group works on
Ten projects, each with a page of its own, with a clear line between the ongoing and the finished.
Finds the right person
The core team, affiliated researchers and alumni each have individual bios rather than a shared list.
Reaches the paper
Peer-reviewed articles and books sit in a list the group extends itself, as soon as a paper is out.
Barlow is a clean, slightly rounded grotesque with a wide range of weights: precise enough for academic content, yet warm enough that a group working on community health doesn't sound cold. One family carries everything, from dense publication lists to headlines.
A deep academic blue carries the identity: the seriousness and trust expected of a medical research institution.
A fresh health-sector note that breaks the academic seriousness: it leads the eye to actions, projects and highlights.
Near-black for body text: readability first, because the site carries dense research content.
A cool light backdrop for sections: a tidy, clinical space that rests the eye between content blocks.
